Producer Info
Fazenda Mutuca is a historic family-owned coffee farm located at the base of Serra de Três Pontas in the South of Minas region of Brazil. With a legacy spanning over 200 years and managed by Geraldo and Maria Theresa since 1959, the property covers 365 hectares—211 of which are dedicated to coffee cultivation—and is situated at elevations ranging from 900 to 1100 meters. The farm preserves approximately 32% of its native forest, thereby promoting biodiversity and contributing to environmental conservation.
The operation combines traditional techniques with modern innovations while adhering to sustainable agricultural practices. These include integrated pest management, biological control, the use of organic compounds and coffee residues to enhance soil fertility, organ mineral fertilizers, and comprehensive conservation plans aimed at protecting water springs and wildlife. Fazenda Mutuca cultivates a variety of coffee strains, such as Yellow Catuai, Catucai, Icatu, Catigua, Yellow Bourbon, and Mundo Novo, and approximately 70% of its annual production achieves scores above 82 points in the Specialty Coffee Association evaluation. This commitment to quality and sustainability underpins the farm’s distinguished reputation in the specialty coffee industry.
